This workshop is designed to be an engaging experience for School District Technology Directors, Coordinators, Integration Facilitators and Support Staff.

 

Schedule for the Day

9:00 to 9:30 - Open Peer Networking, Registration and Refreshments

9:30 to 10:00 - Welcome and announcements

10:00 to 10:30 – Virtual Reality Background

  • A history of Virtual Reality (VR), where it came from, what it is used for today and where it is going in the future.

10:30 to 11:30 - Google Expedition – Ready or not, Virtual Reality is ready for our schools!

  • Have you seen Google Expedition VR field trips for schools? In this session, you will get to see what it is like to take a trip without leaving your seat! Get ready to explore the world of VR and how it is already being used in education.

11:30 to 12:15 - Lunch and Peer Networking

12:15 to 1:15 – Makerspace – Transforming learning by creating!

  • Makerspaces are taking educators by storm. The idea behind Makerspace is to give students a chance to explore, FAIL (First Attempt in Learning), use creative thinking skills, and become engaged in STEAM-based activities. Schools around the world are creating Makerspaces in libraries and classrooms. You will have the chance to code robots, use simple circuits, think outside the box and make ideas come to life!

1:15 to 2:15 - 3D printers and 3D scanners

  • We will take a look at some of the newest 3D printers and scanners on the market. See how the 3D world is getting more affordable for our schools and projects that will dramatically enhance student engagement!

2:15 to 2:30 - Final thoughts and takeaways

$80.00 - Participants that are not Technology Services Subscribers

$100.00 – Walk-in Participants who were not pre-registered.

The registration deadline is January 5, 2017 at 4:30 PM. All registrations received after that time are considered walk-in participants.

Cancellations must be received by 4:30 p.m. on January 5, 2017 to qualify for a full refund, after which all registrations are final and no refunds will be issued. Substitution of attendees from the same district/organization will be allowed up to the day of the event. In the event a workshop is cancelled by SWWC, a full refund will be given. An email address that is accessed often must be included when registering to ensure receipt of any cancellation notifications.
